Workshops We regularly run workshops to share our approach and to help midwives to consider how they can make changes in working practices. Albany Midwives work under contract to the NHS; we are nevertheless able to have a high rate of normal births, home births, water births and breastfeeding whilst keeping drugs and interventions down. We would like to see more women enjoy this level of care and more midwives able to run their own caseload, extend their skills, and take pleasure and pride in their work. To this end we offer workshops on a variety of topics including: Keeping birth normal Caseload midwifery Increase your confidence with home birth We have a large number of students wanting placements with us, more than we can take, unfortunately, so this year we have added workshops that are aimed at the students who want to know more about the Practice, but can't get a placement. Some comments after the workshops:
Telling Tales This is a 'bring a plate' evening meeting for midwives and student midwives to get together to share midwifery stories and experiences on the art of midwifery. They are generally held on the first Monday of each month at one of the midwives homes. Please contact the office for up to date information. We would like as
many of you as possible to come. |
